WANT TO SING IN A CHOIR? SING WITH US!
Singing with passion and professionalism
We are always looking for new singers to join us. If you want to be inspired and challenged, and have fun singing with a friendly group, then why not come along and sing with us one Monday evening?
We meet from September to mid-July, 7.30 - 10.00pm at St. Johns Arts and Recreation Centre, Old Harlow CM17 0AJ (map). If you decide you want to stay with us, membership is confirmed after a simple audition.
Interested? Read on and find out more about us.
Harlow Chorus aspires to high standards and enjoys critical acclaim. It is one of the most successful choirs in the county, drawing its members from South West Essex, Hertfordshire and London.
We sing a programme of four or five concerts each year, covering a broad repertoire, with professional soloists and orchestras.
Recent concerts:
- Faure, Saint Saens & Mozart, Requiem
- Mathias, Missa Brevis
- Handel, Messiah
- Smyth, Mass in D
- Martines, Dixit Dominus
In addition to already established works, Harlow Chorus supports contemporary composers. It has regularly performed new pieces by its recently retired Musical Director, Dr Edward Rhys Harry, eg Mass of the Martyrs, The Nazarene, O sacrum convivium, etc
Friendly, welcoming to all
Singing in a choir is a great way to make new friends. We have a mixed age membership with varying degrees of musical experience and technical knowledge. Harlow Chorus is an adult choir and we do not routinely accept members under the age of 18. However, if you are aged 16 -18, we can accept you to sing with us provided you have written parental permission and arrange to be accompanied by a designated responsible adult. As well as our rehearsals and concerts, we also hold social events: eg quizzes and talent evenings and, of course, there is always a cup of tea, cake and a chat in rehearsal break each week.
