Harlow Chorus celebrates its 50th anniversary by performing one of the most dramatic settings of a biblical story ever written.
Since its premiere in 1846, Elijah has never been absent from the repertoire. Stirring, wonderfully melodic choruses; powerful solos; and the grand narrative of the central figure, the prophet Elijah, which sees him raise the dead, contest Baal-worshippers, discover the Lord in the ‘still small voice’, and finally ascend to heaven in a fiery chariot.
